FYI: The CARD-operated swimming pools at Chico and Bidwell junior high schools are officially scheduled to be open from 1-4 p.m. on Saturdays (as well as various hours during the week). But if there aren’t enough people using it, they close early. Totally understandable but a bummer. (Happened to our family today.) Still a great deal at $1 per person. You could also take a short drive to the Dwight Brinson Swim Center at 9451 Midway in Durham. Run by the Durham Recreation and Parks District, the pool is open for public swimming Monday-Friday 1-4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 1-5 p.m. as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9. Admission is $2 and season passes are available.
